On Union Jack Badges and Other Group-Identifying Accessories
A lot of misunderstandings besiege the Free Mason society - oftentimes negative inferring of an old boy network, or yet greater heinous hints. However, nothing could be further from the truth. As a fraternity, Freemasonry proffers an opportunity for gentlemen to meet and partake in genial fellowship. Improving oneself is a fundamental facet of being a freemason. Freemasonry promotes helping others too, and charity is a tangible method in which Masons serve those.
An important aspect of the Free Mason society’s duties is not to actively seek out new individuals to become members. Even so, any person should feel free to communicate with any current member to seek more details about Freemasonry.
To become a member, you must be male, over 18 years old, and you should match the qualifications of reputation, should be of good moral character.
A man who wants to become a member must be advocated by three Masons of the lodge he wants to become a member in. He must realise that his character must be enquired about. Following recommendation by the Masons, he will then be accepted as an applicant for membership in Freemasonry.
Masons oftentimes assume items such as Union Jack badges which casually identify themselves to other members while passing on the lodge they are a member of.
