Large Manufacturers Capture Laptops for Gaming Opportunity

Filed under: Technology — admin @ 10:48 am

Not so long a go it looked like laptops for gaming were only available from select manufacturers and they were generally built to order. Sure they weren’t made in big quantities however companies did gain a lot of cash on them. They were the laptop computers you day dreamed about but were out of your reach. Plainly they were the best laptops about. They most likely weren’t massive sellers though because I believe most of us buy laptops that we can comfortably afford. These days things vary a lot with larger companies also producing gaming notebooks.

If mass produced, companies can render giant revenues on gaming notebooks. Its definitely a great way to higher gross profits. In my opinion well known manufacturers can use leverage to sway prospects to buy laptops despite cost. What would local resellers possibly do if their prices are undercut? With the capital at their disposal they can easily get rid of littler competition. In my opinion if anybodies prepared to spend a lot of cash the brand name always comes out victorious.

In my opinion these companies are rolling out the best laptops at this minute. This is in fact the prime competitive advantage left for the local guys. Specifying the specification is a thing all the techies enjoy. This type of buyer is usually well versed in the technical aspects and can compare the specifications. In my opinion I believe consumers care more about the power ahead of looks.

All the changes are really positive from the consumer’s standpoint. A plan that the littler retailers could apply is to reduce markup in to sell more system. Do not forget that is just my opinion on the current conditions. The best laptops are typically going to be expensive to be telling the truth. I guess we’ll have to watch if this overcrowding produces any major benefits for consumers.

You can see the of this at this moment. Just check out how inexpensive the gaming laptops are at http://www.rizeon.com

Making PC to Phone VoIP Calls over Dial-Up Internet Connections

Filed under: Better Telecommunication — admin @ 9:17 am

There’s a lot of hype these days surrounding Internet-based voice communications (VoIP) replacing traditional telephone service. Most of this revolves around companies such as Vonage who coin themselves as the ‘Broadband Phone Company’. So what about those of us who don’t have a broadband connection? Just because you don’t have high speed Internet, doesn’t mean that you can’t save a fortune by using VoIP for your long-distance calls. Whilst a broadband connection will usually result in more consistent VoIP call quality, comparable results can be achieved using a dial-up connection provided some simple guidelines are followed.

Shop Around

Not all VoIP service providers support dial-up users. Companies such as Vonage bill themselves as alternatives to traditional telephone service and shy away from the dial-up community (who are tied to those ‘traditional’ networks to access the Internet). Furthermore, some service providers only support dial-up above a certain speed (e.g., 56Kbp). Two companies whose VoIP softphone applications work well over low speed connections include Callserve and Go2Call.

‘Free-up’ your System Resources

In order to ensure the highest call quality, close programs that are running in the ‘background’. For Windows users, these applications can be seen in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen. ‘Right-click’ the icons and close those programs that aren’t critical to system security (e.g., don’t close anti-virus software, firewall applications and the like).

If you’re using Windows XP with user switching enabled, log off all users except the one that will be used to make the call. This will prevent the other user identities from running software and/or using your bandwidth while you’re making calls.

‘Free Up’ your Internet Connection

Given the limited data capacity of dial-up connections, it’s important that you devote as much of your bandwidth as possible to the VoIP softphone application. To achieve maximum call quality, don’t do anything that uses your bandwidth whilst making calls. This includes instant messaging, checking email, using a webcam, browsing the internet, downloading, etc. In Windows, you can look at the two little computers in the bottom right of your taskbar to see whether your connection is being used prior to calling (the little computers illuminate when data is being uploaded and/or downloaded).

Scan your System for Viruses, Spyware, Adware and Malware

Some of these malicious programs can hijack your browser, tie up your internet connection and slow down your system (not to mention seriously invade your privacy!). I recommend AdAware for free scanning and removal of Spyware/Adware. Once you’ve checked and cleansed your system of these nasty programs, your virus definition files should be updated to minimize the chances of re-infection.

Use a Headset with an Integrated Boom Microphone

Last but not least, using a headset with a boom microphone should eliminate those annoying voice echoes often associated with PC to Phone calls. Echoes are caused by your microphone detecting the voice coming from your computer speakers and re-transmitting that voice signal back to the person you’re talking to. By using a headset, the voice signals are limited in volume (due to the headset being directly adjacent to your ears) and thus the chances of your microphone ‘re-transmitting’ those voice signals is greatly reduced.

So there you have it. A Lack of high speed Internet needn’t mean a lack of PC to Phone VoIP capability.

2006 Trends in Material Sciences to Protect Space Endeavors

Filed under: Great Video Tips — admin @ 11:59 pm

In 2005 NASA Scientists saw some huge solar storms and dangerous solar flares, during what is suppose to be a low point in the 22-year solar cycle. There was damage to some satellites and the ISS International Space Station was on high alert. Many Satellite companies were also on edge knowing that their multi-million dollar communications systems were in danger of damage or complete failure. Space radiation is a serious problem for astronauts, space colonies, space stations and future space travelers. Without adequate protection from space radiation, long-term multi-generational space exploration flights will not be possible.

In 2006 new materials will be introduced which will inhibit space radiation. New coatings will also solve these issues to protect systems from harm and decay of habitats, equipment and electronics in space. New designs of space colonies will include water storage supplies between the human occupants and the outside. Titanium will be mined on the moon and plans will be brought forth to make spaceship skin of this metal to prevent the space radiation from affecting the crew. Scientists will continue to make elements, which do not exist here on Earth but are thought to be stable once created, which will be able to protect against radiation due to their high period table numbers. Think on this in 2006.

An ancient and precious jewel. One of the four patriarchal basilicas of the city, maybe the most beloved of the Romans. Includes on eof the most admired ancient nativity scenes of the city
The story of Jesus and Holy Mary, told in the precious mosaics of the nave, datable to the 5th century. The gilded roof and the noble chappels, the marble paviment and the elegant canopy of the central Altar.

Fontana di Trevi
Water and marble, fiction and reality: a scene worthy of the richest theatrical show. One of the most representative symbol of Rome.

Palazzo Madama
A beautiful palazzo if the 16th century, today the sat of the Senate of the Republic, its history is that of the personalities who lived there. In the heart of Renaissance and Baroque Rome, it is a jewel of civil architecture.

A walkway of angels which look down as you walk across the bridge, the memory of a past time in which the castle was a place of imprisonment and suffering.

Citt del Vaticano
A State within a State, a city whithin a city. This is the small but precious Vatican Sate. The piazza is like a symbolic embrace to Christians, an enormous concave circle whih has welcomed the faithful for centuries with the same emphasis carried out by the Popes of the Baroque.

Maximize Your Spend, Enjoy a High Clickthrough Rate (CTR)

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 9:34 am

The Google Adwords experience can seem overwhelming at times.
When you first start your Google Adwords campaigns, it is quite easy to get discouraged.

It might all seem a bit too hard and intimidating because you might start to find that your ad will be disabled if your CTR (click-thru-rate) percentage isn’t high enough. Google requires a minimum 0.05% CTR.
This basically means that you need to make sure that a certain percentage of people click on your ad when it’s displayed. Google adjusts your bids automatically to keep you ahead of your competition at the lowest price.

Note: Clickthrough rate (CTR) is the number of clicks your ad receives divided by the number of times your ad is shown (impressions).

Note: The cost-per-click (CPC) is the amount your pay each time a user clicks on your ad.

Where your ad is positioned on the search results page, is determined by several factors. How much you are prepared to pay per click for that particular keyword or keyword phrase is not the only factor.
The Google Adwords system uses a cost per click (CPC) and clickthrough rate (CTR) formula which ultimately improves your Adword ranking without increasing the cost per click.

The higher your CTR % is, the higher up on the search results page you ad will appear.
Usually the higher up on the list your ad is seen, the more clicks you will receive.

The trick is to make each click count so you end up paying less per click.
When bidding on keywords, being on top should not be your number one priority, but being on the first page is a must. Around the middle is a good start without paying too much per click.

Now setting up your Adwords campaigns is not as easy as it might seem without wasting money.

Setting up Google Adwords campaigns can be done simply by creating an account then creating your ads or campaigns based on certain rules. Your whole Adwords campaign is controlled by you if desired,

You can put limits on actual daily spending, report on what’s working in almost real time and when changes are made they are pretty much instant.
Campaigns can be added or modified almost in real time.
You have the ability to run multiple ads, even for a single keyword at the same time.

A well planned Google Adwords campaign can start to generate highly targeted leads very quickly.
Now the best way to make this happen is by targeting your keywords properly.

Surround you keywords that consist of two words or less with square brackets [like this].
Keyword phrases that contain more than two words can be surrounded with quotes “like this also”.

So if one of your keyword phrases was ‘weight gain’ then you would surround it with square brackets like this [weight gain]. If you do not target your keywords properly then someone looking for ‘how to lose weight’ might bring up your ad on gaining weight. Somehow, I don’t think they will click on your ad.

How many keywords you have in your ad groups is not important, as long as they are targeted.

However, making sure they are arranged into separate logical groups according to subject, is.

Now how many groups you have depends on how you utilize your keywords in your ads.

If you want the optimum clickthrough rate, just make sure that each ad group includes its keywords in the ad, better still in the ad heading.

This might take quite a few groups and some time, but you will target your customer properly and at the same time increase your clickthrough rate (CTR) percentage.

This is the dream of every advertiser. Achieving this takes a lot of hard work and testing. Google adwords is unique in that your ads go online immediately. This allows you to test your ads as much as you want. When you are not satisfied, write new ads. You can also set CPC for campaign as well as for individual keywords.

One trick you can use to achieve this is to initially set your daily budget high, CPC high, and write good ads. This will position your ad well, 1st to 6th position. Once you have achieved a good CTR (4% to 7%) gradually lower your CPC while retaining a high daily budget. Always remember that a high impression and CTR will get you a high position even if your CPC is low compared to your competitors’

A high CTR% means less cost-per-click (CPC).
Target your keywords as strict as possible. An exact match on you keywords will help your ads get higher CTR%.

So remember, include your keywords in your ads, especially in the heading.

Multiple Steps to Success

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 7:19 pm

Having an interest in online business, I often frequent forums that are for people who have or want a successful online business. There is one theme that recurs time and time again, and one that touches me with sadness. That is, the number of people who sound despondent and want to give up. You may think that such an attitude would be confined to those who had at been trying to get their online business going for a year or more. Often, though, it might just be a month, or like an example today, three weeks.

Such a short term view is totally unrealistic. In that particular case, the person concerned was being given a kick start by a highly experienced and well known internet marketer, for free. He was complaining already, despite not having done anything himself, that he had so far received no benefit, and that the whole idea needed to be rethought, presumably so that he could be raking in a fortune inside another month without doing any work.

That sort of attitude is likely to lead to failure for a tough ambition such as making a decent income online. Success at anything normally involves taking one step at a time, sometimes along several parallel routes that, eventually, run into one and bring you success. With working online, for example, there are a wide variety of skills, methodologies and pitfalls, all to be dealt with methodically en route to success. Success does not come quickly unless you are very lucky; but those who are patient, have a vision, and are prepared to work hard, taking a step at a time, have a very good chance of succeeding….eventually.

I was not sure whether to feel sorry for that particular poster, or annoyed with him for complaining about what was some valuable free assistance from a genuine expert. In the end, I felt neither, and left him to find out the realities of life.

Most visions of success do really need a number of steps to be taken, and success cannot be achieved in one giant leap. A good example is with a professional qualification, such as the management accounting qualification for which I studied when I was younger. The end result, the “success”, was a certificate, but you could not just order that certificate. There were several series of steps:

1. 5 stages of either 3 or 4 examinations had to be passed to qualify; a total of 18 examinations in all.

2. To pass a stage, you had to pass each exam individually, which meant being well inside the top 40% of students for each one. Fail in one, and you fail the stage. That meant starting again.

3. Each examination required different skills, knowledge and practical application to succeed. Subjects were varied, such as computing, marketing, financial accounting, organisation and management, contract law, business law, and corporate planning. Each was a separate step, requiring a separate approach, with no scope to put a foot wrong. Each a big step in itself, with many little steps along their own route.

Once a stage was passed successfully, it was like starting all over again with another series of steps, each getting progressively more difficult. Many students fell by the way side or had to resit. There was no avoiding the necessary steps.

That is true of most ambitions in which you seek success. If success is really worthwhile in something, it is unlikely to be easy and simple. So it is best to bear that in mind when focusing on your goal.

Once you have a vision of your goal, you need to recognize all the essential steps to the goal’s realization. There is no harm in imagining the final success; visualization of fulfilment will help. However, you do need to give appropriate attention to each of the essential steps. In the professional qualification example, I hated business law, but had to give it special attention to pass, otherwise all my work on the other subjects in that stage would have been worthless. Having got through that stage, the next included company law, which was nothing more than a memory test. I hated that even more; but still had to pass it.

Most worthwhile goals have similar essential steps, which you need to recognise, and then devise a plan to address each step with whatever effort, knowledge, skills and practice you may need. Having formed your plan for each step, you can then set about them methodically, carving your way to success, one step at a time.

If you write down your goal, and then the individual, essential steps, you will have the great satisfaction of ticking off each step, and then stand back and see you have reached your vision. Your goal will be achieved.

Poker and Parties, Oh My!

People these days love poker. Why not have poker parties online? Sounds a bit odd, but a poker party online can happen. All you need is your favorite online site to play poker, get together some friends online and before the game or during it have a chat secession. Together, everyone can play some cards and enjoy some friendly conversation.

You can even virtual role-play with a beverage area or cart for guests; pretend it is an atmosphere in Vegas. It can even be a vacation of sorts, where everyone is together and staying at a fancy hotel. The possibilities are limitless. Being creative with a poker party is not only fun, but also brings about a certain thrill to the online poker experience.

Imagine sitting in front of your laptop or desktop watching a poker game you are playing. Your friends are having fun, you are having fun and the poker chips are falling on the table. A laughing out loud symbol is made in the chat and everyone has a great time.

What could be better than friends and a good game of poker? Especially when the sounds of the cards are dealt, you have that winning hand and don’t know whether or not your friend has the hand that could beat you.

Planning a Team Building Weekend

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 5:14 pm

One of the underlying concepts of a team building activity is that it is designed to foster at team spirit among the participants, and help them focus on what they need to do in day to day work in order to function effectively as a team. So you’ve just taken your team out on a wild weekend of river rafting and wall climbing, and everyone’s returned to work energized and ready to tackle the latest project. How do you know if your team building event actually served its purpose?

One important part of a team building weekend that is often overlooked is the evaluation process. It’s not enough to plan a fun weekend and hope that throwing your project team into the mix will bond them into a working team. A successful corporate team building event must take into account the goals and needs of the individual company and department in order to bring the group together. Before choosing a team building idea, your event planning team (and of course you’re using a team to plan the event, aren’t you?) should carefully evaluate each idea to see how it fits in with the company’s goals.

How do you ensure that your team building event will actually do its job? Here are some tips to help you plan a corporate team building activity that will help your team pull together.

- Have a clear purpose for the team building activity.
Sit down with the project team leaders and brainstorm. Ask them to define areas that need work and skills that need polishing. Once you have a clear idea of what needs to be accomplished, you can choose events that fit the bill.

- Balance work time with fun team building events.
Skip the overworked touchy-feely trust building events and choose events that are fun for all. Choose activities where working as a team pays off - perhaps a scavenger hunt or a spy mission. There are dozens of team building activities that will challenge your group to become a team without boring them to tears.

- Make time to network.
Building teams starts with building relationships. Make sure that you don’t pack so much activity into your team building time that your group has no time to kick back and relax. Schedule in some unstructured time when they can get to know each other outside work time.

- Put together a follow-up action plan.
Don’t let the team spirit die when the team building weekend is over. Make an action plan that will be followed to put all the great ideas and plans into effect once you return to work.

Health Insurance 101

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 8:32 pm

Health insurance is a kind of insurance wherein the insurance company pays the medical costs of the insured individual if the individual in question falls ill due to covered causes, or due to accidents. The insurer may be a private organization or a government agency. The major purpose of health insurance is to cover medical expenses and any lost income while the individual is not well and unable to function normally.

There are different types of health insurance policies. The two most common ones are major medical and disability insurance. A major medical health insurance policy provides benefits for sickness or injury, irrespective of whether the care is provided at a doctor’s office, clinic or hospital. The types of sickness and injury covered are typically broad, although there are always limitations that you may want to discuss with your agent prior to purchasing the coverage. Major medical policies normally have an annual deductible and a lifetime maximum amount of benefits that will be paid.

Even if you are covered by a group insurance at work, you might consider taking an individual policy if you may change jobs soon, or if certain benefits that are not provided in the group policy.

A deductible is an annual amount that you will have to pay per insured person, before the insurance company begins to pay on your bills. There is an upper limit for the maximum amount of deductibles you will have to pay in a given year.

In a health policy, coinsurance refers to the percentage of the medical bills that the insured individual will have to pay after the deductible is met. Usually the health policy would have a provision called a ’stop-loss’ - this is the maximum amount you will have to pay for covered medical bills.
