Massage That Bridges The Space Between Body And Spirit

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 8:25 pm

For many individuals, massage has evolved from a periodic indulgence to a key component of an overall health and fitness regimen. The ability of massage to reduce stress and remedy various physical ailments has convinced many to include a massage therapist on their list of health providers.

But the art of massage takes many forms. Typically, a visit to a spa or an independent massage therapist will include some form of Swedish massage or deep tissue massage. These techniques are designed to invigorate muscles by promoting increased blood flow to specific areas and identifying and relieving particular problems. The application of these types of massage involves long, rhythmic strokes and kneading or circular actions with the hands, palms or fingers. The result is improved circulation, physical relaxation and a reduction in mental stress.

Shiatsu massage is also an extremely effective form of massage but with a somewhat metaphysical rationale to support the technique.

Shiatsu is a Japanese word that means “finger pressure.” The goal of Shiatsu is to restore the balance of energy in the body. Proponents of Shiatsu and acupuncture believe that disease and physical infirmities are caused by imbalances or blockages in the flow of energy through the body. This energy is called “ki” which flows through the body along meridians or energy channels. Practitioners strive for a balance between Yin (negative energy) and Yang (positive energy) and attempt to determine where there may be a build up of energy or an energy deficiency. Either will cause problems.

Shiatsu does not use the rubbing and kneading technique of Swedish massage but applies pressure using almost any part of the therapist’s body including arms, legs, fingers, hands, feet, elbows, toes, etc. The therapist locates a particular point along one of the body’s meridians and applies pressure to that area, attempting to restore balance to the flow of energy. The pressure can be applied gently with the fingers or may be applied forcefully with the point of the elbow depending on the location of the point and the severity of the blockage. The therapist may also incorporate stretching, holding or rotating various parts of the body

The restoration of the proper balance of “ki” is viewed as a spiritual as well as physical benefit. The balanced flow of energy offers physical comfort and improved health as well as emotional stability and spiritual well being. In fact, it is not uncommon that a recipient of Shiatsu massage may experience an intense emotional response as energy is released from problem areas and restored to proper levels. Crying is not an unusual occurrence and a good Shiatsu massage therapist is fully prepared for, and completely sympathetic to, this type of response.

Shiatsu massage is an extremely relaxing and healing form of massage. It is satisfying to know that besides feeling better, a Shiatsu experience can place us back in balance with the energy flow of the universe.

Sacred Genuine Contact

Filed under: Unassigned — admin @ 6:45 pm

Genuine contact is experienced when the egoic display is shut down, even for a moment. What remains is self-existing sacredness, genuineness, the intimacy of our True Being, which is always, effortlessly there! The problem is that when egoic mind comes back on line, it has a memory impression of the sacred but it can only relate to the memory egoically. It regards the experience as

1.) A separate object.
2.) Something it did, therefore as something to create again or recapture.
3.) Something to seize and solidify around a symbol (anchor)a person, place, or thing, physical or mental.
4.) Something requiring great effort and strategizing.
5.) Something that is missing in the meantime.
6.) And therefore, as a longing that generates despair, pain, motivation, etc. (5 skandhas, 3 malas, 6 realms, 5 poisons: These are not all bad because in the end they cause us to make the effort to dissolve egoic mind.)

When egoic display is on, even your best friend, your pure lover, is only a mental image. There is no real contact. But in the next moment the egoic display can go off and intimacy is felt. It is pointless to say that this intimacy happens between people, because in this moment there is only one person. Egoic mind flashes back on with a memory impression of pure being, looks around for its source: Wham! “It’s you my dearest, I can’t live without you, I don’t feel alive without you!” Egoic mind fixates a source, assumes causal relationships, and puts all its passion into holding the object. Of course, since this is all egoic misperception, it is an internal theatrical display, doomed to failure and pain because there is no real contact with the real objectless source object: True Being.
In a healthy love relationship, the blessing of many moments of grace, contact, respect, and intimacy that occur when egoic display is off have the effect of smoothing out the effects of egoic display when it is on. Mature individuals have an intuition of Self (faith, humble self-esteem) that allows them to see the transparency of egoic display. In this case, the egoic stuff is workable because generosity and love infiltrate it through a very porous boundary from True Being, a felt sense of well-being and tolerance. The fear and delusion that egoic display can generate between good friends and lovers is so low that even when it comes on, it is simply a reminder of TrueConnection/Love, and therefore it is regarded as very workable, no threat, met with warm-hearted humor.

Addictive, abusive relationships of great passion or substance addictions of great passion are, by contrast, very unfortunate. The boundary is not porous. A very high con of fear and delusion is generated. Thus, a peak experience of intimacy, peace, etc. creates a memory impression in the egoic display that is an extreme highlight in an arena of desolation. The egoic mind’s sense of inherent desperation and emptiness is harshly irritated by this highlight, causing it to obsess in all manner of familiar violent and destructive ways, as it attempts to return to the experience for relief. The boundary is hard: it is an unconscious, on-going, moment by moment, fear-based, willful rejection of light, due to the misperception that it is a threat. Thus, love, patience, generosity, and intelligent inspirations to diffuse egoic trance in a healthy manner cannot infiltrate. The felt sense of well-being and tolerance is absent. Egoic mind’s only alternative is some form of assault, an attempt to tear a hole in the wall. This can be done. Egoic mind can intensify its negativity to such an extreme that it exhausts itself for a time and one pops through to experience some aspect of True Being. But eventually this process takes an unacceptably destructive toll, physically and psychologically, returning pay-offs which are more and more diminished, and which lead to more extreme attempts, which, if not mitigated, end in annihilation.

This tragedy is internal theater acted out to the extreme. The person involved hasn’t a clue that he is at cause, that he sets the requirements for shutting down grace and intimacy, moment by moment, according to his attachments (5 poisons; building egoic world view; “This is what is happening!”). We each choose, moment by moment, to associate into egoic display or to release it and rest in always-given TrueBeing: to relax and breathe.

With our tools, we can construct new submodality displays.

All the players, friends and enemies alike, must be loved and saved because they are merely clones of our energy, of people of the past. Even if they are present, they are no longer who they were in the past, and still are now in our minds. The clones are the problem, not the outer people. Our internal clones, ourselves dressed up as someone else, keep us anchored in limiting notions of self and in limiting responses: it is not the external people. This truth is what allows therapy, or any change, to work. If it weren’t true, you couldn’t change. Because it is true, you can change anything, including the past. Remember, the past is a package of perceptions, misperceptions, arbitrary c/e assumptions, opinions, prejudices, etc. Therefore, you can change its meaning, which was supporting a false notion of self (praise, blame, and shame: “You dumb jerk, you spilled the milk”), without denying the factual occurrence, (the milk was spilled), which, if denied, would be a form of brainwashing (the milk didn’t spill).

The Next World Series Champion

Filed under: Sports Parlor — admin @ 4:37 pm

Just like clockwork, every spring brings the same hopes to major league baseball teams all over the country. Some fans of teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers are just hoping to stay in the pennant race after the first few weeks of the season, while other fans have higher aspirations.

Take the rabid fans of Boston Red Sox nation or the equally intense fanatics who root for the New York Yankees. Not only do these fans demand that their teams be in the playoffs or World Series every season, they also demand that the two clubs beat each other.

Boston and New York are separated by about four hours in a car, but their baseball fans and ideas are separated by much more space than almost anyone can imagine.

The best word, although not too politically correct, is “hate.” It is not a stretch of any imagination to say that the fans of these clubs hate each other. Every year, fights break out in the stands or in sports bars across America, and they are all involving Yankee or Red Sox fans. Ever seen or heard about a Cardinals and Braves fan fight?

Both Boston and New York have fans who are living in various cities away from their hometown, and this has spread the rivalry across many time zones. Trust me from first-hand experience, you can find New Englanders and New Yorkers almost anywhere in the USA.

The rivalry and bad blood runs fairly deep for me, and I would not be able to write with such certainty on the topic had I not been so directly involved through many years.

Being born and raised in New York, you have a choice between teams. Once you select the Yankees (in my case, passed down by dear ol’ Dad), the next step is to immediately work up a hatred for Red Sox fans, Red Sox management, New England Clam Chowder and even anybody foolish enough to be wearing actual red socks.

The Yankees are a 4-to-1 Favorite @ WagerWeb.com to win the World Series

If you’re a Yankees fan, that is your first given in life - hate thy Red Sox fan. With their annoying accents, general lack of knowledge toward the game, their laughable track record of winning over the years and barrelful of excuses for losing, it is fairly easy to work up a good lather against them.

Another year is upon us, and 2006 will see these two teams meeting 19 times. The first pair of these games takes place on May 1-2 in Beantown. If you’re a baseball fan and you’re not watching these games, you either better be getting married or mourning a death in the family. If you’re a Yankee or Red Sox fan, there is no excuse not to be watchingjust keep the volume low on your mini TV and nobody at the funeral should get too upset.

But emotions and people getting upset are actually the hallmark of this rivalry. It’s easy to go back and cite all the times on the field that these two teams have mixed it up, which in turn usually carries over to the stands or the bars.

More recently, we had Alex Rodriquez taking on Jason Veritek, and Don Zimmer battling it out with Pedro Martinez. Granted, the names and faces change, but the intensity between the two teams and their fans is legendary.

I can personally attest to one infamous episode during Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship series. It was the game where New York recovered from a 5-3 deficit to defeat Boston with a home-run from Aaron Boone that sent the Yankees to the World Series.

Drinking a beer amidst hoards of Red Sox fans at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, I was resigned to watching the Sox advance to the World Series. Soon, the Yankees mounted their comeback, and my bravado had started taking the best of me. Although very conservative in my early remarks, I saved the best for last: When Boone’s shot landed in upper reaches of Yankee Stadium, my outburst lasted for several minuteswhich most likely felt like hours for Red Sox fans.

Now this incident took place before Boston finally won a World Series title, so Red Sox fans were more surly than usual.

With my yelling ringing in their ears and their sorrow turning to desperation, two New England tourists started hurling insults my way, and we exchanged profane remarks for several minutes before your classic dimwitted Red Sox fan charged at me, telling me to keep quiet.

Now, telling a Yankee fan to keep quiet is like telling Pam Anderson not to show any cleavage, so it quickly turned ugly. In the end, Red Sox fan lost the fight but had some red blood to show for it on his nose, and his wife was also the recipient of some collateral damage.

If you’re curious, all charges were dropped.

I would expect nothing else from the loyal, overzealous fans of either team. In the end, being a Yankee or Red Sox fan is like defending your country. If attacked and provokedor just not a fan of a particular nationlet them know you’re serious and that they best not challenge you again.

Winning a World Series title hasn’t made Red Sox fans any smarter or relevant, it just gave them a one-year sense that everything was finebut pinstripes will always be the real color of choice.

Solo Ads - Making Them Sell

Filed under: Markets + Marketing — admin @ 10:49 am

OK, You want to know how Solo Ads sell. This is it, short and sweet.

Writing your Solo Ads, not rocket science… at all.

This article itself is a visual example of what good solo ads look like. It’s a little longer that most solo ads are but hey, it’s an illustration of one.

Bullet point your Solo Ads just like you see here.

Solo ads are all about skim reading. People cruse through them at warp speed so make a bullet point and back it up really quick.

Your Solo Ad titles, easy as one, two, three.

Solo ads with great titles will sell your product. Just look at the headings here in bold text. They’re basically section titles. Your still reading so it’s working. That’s what you what your solo ads to make people do, read them! Then you’ll sell big time.

Say it. Don’t hold back, Say it!

Hey guess what? You can put your web site address in your solo ads more than once. Why not increase your chances of people visiting your site and opting in?

Call me to action baby!

When your solo ads have strong “calls to action” or combinations of persuasive words, that’s what gets people to your web site. It’s a good idea to put a call to action just before your web site address each time you include it in your solo ad.

Domain names, a slick Solo Ad selling trick.

Domain names can be cool things to persuade you readers with too. For example, you can buy a domain name that’s part of the title in your solo add, ties into the text, your product and makes your ad look snappy. You can buy a domain name for each ad really cheep. Its worth the $3-$10 bucks because usually the more domain names you buy at once the less they cost.

Getting cheep Solo Ads and chopping down ad prices.

You can find really cool E-zine publishers who actually give you an office phone to call them, who answer it! They often offer you cut prices on your solo ads because you’re probably going to be a repeat customer.

A warning about Solo Ads and SPAM.

Use a spam checker before you ever submit your solo ads or they may never see the light of day. In other words, get delivered. There are plenty of good quality free SPAM checkers. This is a friendly suggestion. Find, download and use one to analyze your ads before you submit them.

You can get people on the way out the door.

Put a P.S. message in your solo ads to keep your readers interest
down to the last sentence. In fact you can use a P.S. more that onece. Studies show the second P.S. gets the best response. So make that one a strong call to action.

Ok, this is the big secret.

This is how you seal the deal, get leads and make sales. Make your own web site that ties into the title, domain name and text in your solo ads. The more your solo ad’s content and web site relate, the more leads your ads will generate,
the more sales you’ll make.

That’s it. That’s the game. I hope this helps you.

Solo Ads are great but there are many ways to generate leads to learn about that are more targeted and don’t cost a dime.

Online MDs

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 7:25 am

Doctors across the United States and around the world are making use of the latest technology and the convenience of the internet in a variety of ways. Whether it’s better patient care or making their presence known in their communities, medical professionals have come to depend on web sites, web hosting, and databases. It is no longer a luxury, but fast becoming par for the course.

Better Patient Care

The internet is often used for transfer of all types of medical data. Particularly with respect to radiology, the technology now exists to transmit CAT or PET scan images over the web for analysis by physicians in remote locations, or to transfer patient information quickly whether it’s across the country or around the world.

Unfortunately, this technology is seeing limited use and usually only in affiliation with larger, teaching medical centers. Transfer of individual patient information is constrained by the HIPPA regulations to the point that signatures are required for exchange of that type of data and tend to be transmitted in paper form or by fax. While some medical facilities maintain advanced databases for patient records, the information contained in them remains closely held.

Maintaining a database of patient records will make filing simpler for employees, free up office space that was once dedicated filing cabinets, allow for fewer mistakes on charts and quicker and more accurate retrieval and transfer by any medium.

Community Medical Listings

The most likely place to find a physician’s name, specialty and location on the web is through the regional online service listings. There are probably half a dozen ‘yellow page’ ecommerce type services in most major metropolitan areas that have medical listings.

Additionally, there are the ‘city search’ type web hosted services that provide local information on entertainment, restaurants and local attractions - and will also provide legal and medical listings. There are dedicated listing services such as yourmd.com that are more comprehensive, providing specialty information and an area for the physician to provide comments on treatment focus and philosophy, but provide only a basic phone number and address listing. A small monthly fee is charged.

Personal Medical Websites

If a physician chooses to utilize online listing services, it would be of substantial value if those listings included a clickable web address for the individual doctor or practice. Any medical practice or professional listed online should consider establishing its own hosted web site, so that the browsing consumer can click to a dedicated page introducing the doctor(s) and the practice specialties. Post professional information: where you were educated, hospitals you have worked at, and information about your specialty. Allow potential new patients to contact through your website with an online form or contact link for email. Post a picture, your address, phone number, and hours. List all your services and what insurances you accept. Give as much information as possible.

Educate Your Current Patients And Attract New Ones

There are a couple of specialties that have recognized the value of using online presentation of information. One is sports medicine: many clinics for sports-related injuries have web sites that discuss rehabilitation philosophy as well as surgical options and the clinical backgrounds of the staff.

Another is pediatrics: a field where many group practices have established websites in order to create an introductory environment designed to put the browsing parent at ease. Brief biographies of the doctors in the practice may be found there, along with any specialties that apply.

Physicians that have established their own hosted web sites will often use them to provide basic information on common afflictions and links to more comprehensive sites about the diseases. Provision of this sort of information is often done with literature and usually with the physician walking the patient through it. For that sort of patient care, a hosted website can be a timesaver for the doctor. “Look it up on my website and call if you have questions” can be a timely and convenient closer for an office visit.

Thorough Patient Care

A doctor’s personal website can provide alternative contacts and telephone numbers for weekend or off-hour care. It can route calls to information nurses or other personnel on staff; providing a service that otherwise is simply another phone message for the doctor to return. It can also provide an email link for inquiries about appointment times - a worthwhile service for an office with phone lines that are often busy. In the medical field, a hosted website dedicated to a single doctor or practice is more an introduction and information source than an advertising vehicle. If designed and utilized properly, a personal medical website can be an efficient and useful tool in the practice of medicine.

The Face of the Waters

Filed under: Nutrition Center — admin @ 8:28 pm

The story of creation begins with water. Water is an essential nutrient in our diet, but many people fail to address this important component of health. While part of the problem can be addressed by consuming foods such as fruits and vegetables that are naturally rich with water, taking in additional water is also important.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2

An amazing discovery was made in 2003. Lurking far below the surface of the ocean, an unusual squid was sighted with 20-foot long tentacles. It is estimated that only a very small percentage of the planet has been explored, and most of that is under water! We constantly hear about the “secrets of the deep” - the amazing life forms that the ocean displays to us, but we forget about the magic of our own bodies. Water is essential for health and nutrition. A co-worker asked me the other day, “How much water should I be taking?”

More than 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water (less than one percent of that water is suitable for human consumption). In excess of 75% of the human body is water. A coincidence? Maybe. When you measure your body fat, the amount of fat is called “fat mass” and the amount of remaining mass is called “lean mass.” Many people mistake lean mass for muscle - in reality, the majority of that lean mass is water and skeletal tissue - typically less 1/8th is actual muscle mass!

In the human body, water lubricates joints and organs. It maintains muscle tone. Water keeps skin soft. Water regulates body temperature, filters out impurities, and keeps the brain working properly. Water transports nutrients to and from cells. While the human body can store energy as glycogen, fat, and tissue, it cannot “store” water - the body uses its own water supply and expects a constant resupply of fresh water to function. Water is critical in moving nutrients into and out of a cell, an action known as the “ion pump”. When you take in the improper balance of sodium and potassium or do not drink adequate water, your body will increase a hormone and try to “retain” water by keeping your kidneys from filtering it. Ironically, one of the best ways to stop retaining water is to drink more water!

While humans can survive without food for several weeks (documented cases have shown lengths of up to two months), we can only survive a few days without water. Thirst is a signal that your body needs to be re-hydrated, but by the time you are thirsty it’s already too late. Just a fraction of a percentage drop of your body’s water supply can result into huge performance decreases. Even slight dehydration can be critical. In the recent sports season, a few deaths resulted from dehydration.

Contrary to popular belief, “chugging” a gallon of water is not going to provide your body with the water it needs. When too much water floods your system at once, your body will pass most of it on to your bladder, and only absorb a slight amount. Weight in the stomach is a signal for digestive processes to begin, and a number of biological chemicals enter your stomach and change the pH balance. This can result in indigestion and stomach pain. The best way to take water is to steadily sip it throughout the day. You should also eat plenty of fruits and vegetables - most of the produce you eat is filled with water, and the body can process this water very efficiently.

So - how much water? There are a million theories and equations. I’ve heard to drink “eight cups a day,” which is better than nothing, but how can every adult, with so much variety of size, shape, metabolism, exercise habits, etc, require the exact same amount of water? Then there is the complicated equation that involves computing your basal metabolic rate and energy expenditure. I had to throw that one out, too - who wants to run a computer program every day just to figure out their water needs? I just prefer to drink like a fish and then I’m done with it. Just kidding.

What I’ve found is two ways for computing water intake that both work incredibly well. The first is a little too vague for some people to follow, but very effective - it is recommended by nutritionist Will Brink. Will says to drink enough water to have two or three absolutely clear urinations per day. If you do not have these clear urinations, then either you are not drinking enough water, are not eating healthily or have some type of infection or other illness. For a normal, healthy adult, two or three clear urinations is a great “ruler.” If you do not have these, then increase your water intake until it happens.

If that is a little too general or explicit for you, another way is to take your weight and divide it in half. This is a “baseline” amount of ounces to drink every day. For every cup that you drink that is not water, drink a cup that is water. For every bout of exercise, drink a cup before and after, and one extra cup for every hour that you exercised (round up!). That’s it. Let’s take me as an example.

If I weighed in at 200 pounds, 200 / 2 = 100 ounces of water, or about 12 cups.

Let’s say I also ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. One cup before, one cup for the exercise, and one cup after is three cups total. 12 + 3 = 15 cups.

I drank two cups of coffee, so I should have two extra cups of water. 15 + 2 = 17.

That’s it - today’s water requirement for me is 17 cups! And I have no problem getting those in - I have an extra large mason jar that holds about 64 ounces. I fill these up and keep them full all day long. I sip them constantly. I probably end up drinking between one to two gallons today because I love my coffee and my exercise.

The type of water to drink is the subject of much debate. I prefer filtered tap water because of the potential for harmful agents in “raw” tap water - although many health gurus recommend tap water due to the fact that they provide plenty of vitamins and minerals. Keep in mind that if you drink too much non-filtered water, you may increase your chances of acquiring kidney stones if there are many foreign materials that your body has to filter out. When you look at a water filter before you toss it out, that is exactly what your body’s filter - the kidneys - would have had to process as well. Distilled water is also an option.

Now go out and drink some water!

Color Contact Lenses - 7 Things You Need to Consider Before Buying Them

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin @ 3:01 pm

Color contact lenses can really brighten your look and your life, but selecting the perfect pair is not as easy as it sounds. We will tell you everything you need to know about color contacts.

1. Are your eyes light or dark?

When deciding what color contact to buy, take into account the natural color of your eyes. If your eyes are light and you want to brighten their natural color, go for enhancement color contacts. Enhancers look more natural on light eyes. However, if your eyes are dark or you want a dramatic change, look at opaque color contacts.

2. What kind of change do you want - a dramatic effect or a slight change?

Some color contact lenses are brighter than the others. The brightest hues, like Freshlook Colorblends True Sapphire, are best for parties, when you are also going to have evening make up. For work, on the other hand, you might prefer lenses that aren’t so vivid. These rules are not set in stone, of course, just make sure to consider how bright a lens you want before making your purchase.

3. Think about comfort as well as the look

Go for well-known brands of contact lenses, so your lenses feel as good as they look. You can get disposable (weekly and monthly) as well as traditional (annual replacement) color contacts. Which is best for you depends on how often and for how long you intend to wear your color lenses. If you are going to wear them every day and all day long, it is better to buy disposable lenses, like Acuvue 2 Colors or Freshlook. Replacing the lenses often won’t let protein deposits to build up on them and the lenses will feel more comfortable.

On the other hand, if you only want to have those perfect blue or green eyes occasionally, annual replacement color lenses would serve your purpose.

4. You need a prescription to buy color contacts

All contact lenses, including color ones, are considered medical devices. So, whether or not you need vision correction, you will need a doctor’s prescription to buy color lenses. Color contacts are not “one size fits all”, and even if you have perfect vision your eye doctor has to measure the base curve of your eye.

Most famous brands of color contacts are available in plano (no correction power) as well as with plus and minus powers. But if you have an astigmatism your choices are very limited; so far only Freshlook offers toric color contacts.

5. You can get free trial color contacts from your doctor

Most doctors can offer you a trial pair of color contact lenses. Of course, he or she won’t let you try many lenses, so you should have some idea about brand and the color you want before you ask your doctor for a free trial pair. Many people are searching for free trial color contacts online. However, since color lenses are medical devices, the only place you can get them is an optometrist’s office.

6. Compare the prices at several shops

You probably already know that the best way to save on color contact lenses is to buy them online. However, online prices differ from shop to shop. After you have selected the exact lens you want and visited your eye doctor for a prescription, check the prices for your lenses in several shops. You should also take the shipping charges into account.

7. Be prepared to care for your color lenses properly

If you already wear corrective contact lenses, you probably have guessed that color contacts would require similar care. If you want to buy non prescription color lenses purely for cosmetic purposes, you will still have to look after them properly. Don’t be scared, this is not hard and take only a few minutes. When giving you a prescription, your doctor should show you how to put the lenses in, take them off, clean and store your contacts. If he or she doesn’t, make sure to ask. Then all you need to do, is not to forget to clean your color contacts every time you take them off.

Article Writing Do’s and Don’ts

Filed under: Publishers Bar — admin @ 6:24 am

Still following along on the Copywriter’s Crash Course in article marketing? Ahh, I’m so pleased! With any luck, you’ll be an article-writing machine by tomorrow. But before you being submitting articles on the web as a brand-building strategy, keep the following Do’s and Don’ts in mind.

Article Writing Do’s

1. DO use keywords in your article title and through the supporting paragraphs. What are keywords? Quick answer: they’re the most popularly searched terms that folks in your niche market are using in Google and other search engines. You MUST learn more about keywords before beginning your foray into the world of article-writing. Find out about keywords here.

2. DO feature information your reader can use. If you never give away any good secrets in your articles, your reader is going to see through the facade, and quickly. A great marketer shares the wealth (of knowledge). This is how the internet experts build their credibility! Do you know a thing or two about internet forums? Tell some people about it in your articles. Acquire adoring fans by offering useful information!

3. DO include live links to your website. Everyone on the web who picks up content from article distribution sites like Ezinearticles.com adheres to their strict policy of including live URL links and a bio from every article author. This is huge, and the sole reason to write the article in the first place! So, take the time to include links to your website (or sales letter page if you have one,) and make them live. If you don’t know how to do this, maybe this article can help: Essential HTML Skills for Article Authors– 7 Tips. But please keep your links to three or less!

4. DO follow a tight article body structure that’s easy to read. If you’re still keeping up with this article, it’s probably because I’ve made it easy for your eye to follow along. There’s nothing worse than having to sift through a long trail of endless information that’s all lumped together. Be kind to your reader and break up your article into easily-understood sections.

5. DO include an Author Bio that positions you as a market leader. Your author bio should be dynamic, timeless, and include a call to action. Don’t forget that your article is going to be read within the context of someone else’s website. If your bio is dull and boring, your reader won’t feel compelled to “follow you home.” Tell them flat-out what to do. “Visit Wordfeeder.com to find out how expert articles can position you as an expert in your field!”

Article Writing Don’ts

1. DON’T skimp on quality! Just because you’ve committed yourself to writing hundreds of articles does not mean that the articles should be sub-par reading. The quickest way to destroy your own credibility is to submit sloppy work. So please proofread for spelling and grammatical errors, and maintain solid sentence structure throughout.

2. DON’T start rambling incessantly! We’ve all had our chatty spells. Sometimes we get going on a topic and just can’t seem to stop. Just because you’re on a roll does not mean the reader is following. In the name of professionalism, stick to the topic at hand.

3. DON’T write an article that’s vague. Always check your article for informational value. Be specific! Your reader will thank you for including well-developed thoughts, and the payoff will come in the form of purchased product on your website.

4. DON’T be tempted to rip off someone else’s work. While some people may not be paying close attention to your online conduct, the people who matter usually are. If you steal someone else’s ideas, you may be able to fool people into thinking you’re somebody you’re not… for a while. Eventually, that facade will quickly fall away when your future clients attempt to know you on a deeper level. And that will totally wreck you in a heartbeat. So don’t do it!

5. DON’T include too many personal stories. Every once in a while, it’s nice to get an up-close impression of a fellow internet marketer. Wow, real people with real lives, kinda neat! But if you’re constantly blowing hot air about how you did this or that, potential customers are going to lose interest. The key question is “What’s in it for the customer?”

Okay! So we’ve covered the basics of What to Do and What Not to Do in your articles. If you feel that you don’t have time to devote to such painstaking detail, that’s okay. There are plenty of ghostwriters who have perfected this craft and will gladly write targeted articles for you. I’m one of them!

Democratic Kampuchea: An Irresponsible Government

Filed under: Legal Hub — admin @ 2:42 pm

Introduction

Men are innately self-centred. Due to this characteristic, countless problems are flourished, and if there is no any official institution to govern men’s negative nature, the whole state would steps toward anarchy. Single-mindedly targets to offer possible benefits to its people, nearly all government in the world is divided between the three; executive, legislative, and judicial. Professor George Mckenna, in one of his excerpts called “Why Government,” claims that government has four basic compulsions to be executed (McKenna, 1998, 7).

Democratic Kampuchea, on other hand, drew a completely outlook from what Professor George Mckenna has claimed above. All of the people who have survived the Pol Pot regime would refer to this government, as not to service the people, but to enslave its own people, and some would even depict the leaders as “worse than Hitler” and a “genocidal maniac” (Chandler, 1999, p.4). And many have explained the ghost of three; Pol Pot, Ieng Sary and Kieve Samphan, as insane philosophers. A confidential CPK document asserted that the “expulsion of the population from Phnom Penh is a measure one will not encounter in any other country’s revolution.” in a similar vein, Ieng Sary told a German correspondent in1976, “it is still too early to announce what we are doing in our country. Since our action is not based on models, we are learning in the course of the experiment (Chandler, 1991, p.204).” Probably the only government whose philosophy has totally molded Cambodian moral/legal/economic system into a complete earthly utopia, Democratic Kampuchea draws a lot of curiosity from the world’s states and inhabitants.

Democratic Kampuchea is the government that ruled Cambodia from 1975-1979. This regime is governed by Pol Pot, Ieng Sary and Kieve Samphan and other subordinates. This regime is notorious for its “auto-genocide” which means slaughtering its own people (having the same nationality as the leaders). Democratic Kampuchea is considered as one of the weirdest regimes in the world, due to its destruction of its own nation and people. For years, the world has dramatically turned their attentions to this 1975-1979 regime. For better understand about Democratic Kampuchea government, I suggested:

David P. Chandler (1999). Brother Number One.

Ben Kiernan (1985). How Pol Pot Came To Power.

David P. Chandler (1991). The Tragedy of Cambodian history.

Or visit Documentation Centre of Cambodia.

Many questions are still remained unanswered; why the government killed too many people? Who was/were responsible for the demises of over one million Cambodian citizens? How would those history traitors be punished? To answer many of the questions above, a glimpse into Democratic Kampuchea’s governance would dramatically benefit. Did Democratic Kampuchea do anything among the four to fulfill what we call the obligations of the government?

I. Establishing Justice?

The term “justice” is extremely convoluted to express in words. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle…etc, all have different opinions for this term “justice”. Not only amongst the people, different forms of government; capitalism, socialism, and democracy, also provide different perspectives. We could define the word justice by presenting a figure of a blindfold woman with a set of scales. The scales symbolize balance and fairness; the blindfold stands for impartiality (McKenna, 1998, 7). “Justice does not necessarily mean treating everyone alike; otherwise all workers would receive the same pay and all students would earn the same grade, regardless of performance or effort. The impartiality of justice is not completely indiscriminate” (McKenna, 1998, 7). For Aristotle’s perspective, just is “the proportional,” meaning that each person should be given what is due to him or her (McKenna, 1998, 8).

Justice was never been done in the Pol Pot regime. What Pol Pot had promised that his regime would bring the innovative circle for the people; justice, opportunity for the uneducated and the poor, turning elite’s political power into people’s hands, etc, were been done very little. On the outset of its governance, Democratic Kampuchea divided people into two groups; “base people” and “new people”. This I would call the second apartheid, like in South Africa. The new people had much harsher living conditions and torture, compared to the base people. Even in the one-party-one-candidate election, base people were not allowed to vote at all. Resulting from this, one query has been arisen; why Democratic Kampuchea had discrimination on its own people? We can venture to answer the question that, because Pol Pot had long had revengeful mentality.

For the whole reigning period of Democratic Kampuchea, Cambodian people were forced to devote their lives to unpaid labour force to fulfill the earthly “collective agrarian utopia” policy. CPK soldiers were taught the culture of detest toward Royal dynasties, intellectuals, the rich, and Sihanouk and Lon Nol’s adherents. Over the years, they has been trained to hate “enemies of the organization” – the Americans, who bombed the country, the traitors allied to the Americans, and the city-dwellers, who had refused to join the revolution. They were taught to relish their resentments; a CPK cadre told Sophy “we were so angry when we emerge from the forest that we didn’t want to spare even a baby in its cradle (Chandler, 1991, p.253).” Before 1977-1978, revenge between classes was widespread. One handwritten document, entitled ‘Who Leads the People’s War?’, illustrates the absolute character of Democratic Kampuchea’s government with a veiled reference to Sihanouk:

…Therefore the only leaders of the people’s war are the layer of the people who experience the greatest expression, the greatest pain, and have the greatest anger are the most absolute in waging war to exterminate the exploiting classes, the imperialists, the feudalists and the capitalists. These layers of people are the toiler class. And the highest Organization, the top general command, the vanguard force, with the boldest line of attack for the toiler class, is the toiler Party, which is adorned with the greatest brilliance of Maxist-Leninist consciousness and endowed with a political line and political standpoint of serving above all the interests of the producing class, and of the nation…(Ben Kiernan, 1985, p.326)

In September 1977, Pol Pot encouraged the farming strata of people by comparing them to the empire of Angkor Wat;

Long ago we have Angkor. Angkor was built during the slaving era. Slaves like us built Angkor under the exploitation class so the royal people can live in happiness. If our people can built Angkor, they can do anything (Chandler, 1996, p.246).

All the culture and tradition; language, religion, clothing, food, etc, of ethnic minorities and even of Cambodian people were abolished, except the Khmer language was the only cultural item to be retained. Familyism was still seen among the top leaders of Democratic Kampuchea; relatives of the leaders were not to be evacuated or tortured (Chandler, 1993, p.210). All people were not allowed to have access to lawyers or judges at all, they were convicted by the Democratic Kampuchea’s soldiers only, though Chapter 7, Article 9 stated that “Justice is administered by people’s courts, representing and defending the people’s justice, defending the democratic rights and liberties of the people, and condemning any activities directed against the people’s State or violating the laws of the people’s State (Jennar, 1995, p.85).

II. Ensuring Domestic Tranquility?

Philosopher Reinhold Niebuhr noted that “every community seeks consciously and unconsciously to make social peace and order the first goal of its life” and he also added that “for the simple reason that chaos means nonexistence” (McKenna, 1998, 9). As stated above, because men are innately self-important, government is the compulsory institution to cater domestic tranquility. Madison wrote that since men were no angels, we require some kind of armed umpire to keep us from harming one another (McKenna, 1998, 9). Professor George McKenna proclaimed that coercion is the available source of the government to stabilize the state (McKenna, 1998, 7), and no one can hold this source besides the government, which is comprised of people. What about the Democratic Kampuchea, had them done such an obligation?

In May 1975, a spokesman of Democratic Kampuchea publicly proclaimed, “more than two thousands year of Cambodian history has end. A little hostile glance into the politics of Democratic Kampuchea, one (especially one living outside Cambodia) may think that Democratic Kampuchea did provide stability to the people, because for nearly the whole of its reign, there were no serious internal and external upheavals. This stability was caused by removing all the human rights and even the natural rights of the Cambodian people only. Such a compressed stability is not called “genuine stability”, because the government’s deployment of force to attain. For Plato, to attain the stability of the whole state, each individual must have stability in the soul as well (Forsyth & Soper, 1988, p. 24). Imagine, how could you sleep if you didn’t have enough food? How would you feel if you were convicted guilty without having a chance to protest back?

III. Providing for The Common Defense?

Government is an aggregate of similar ideology, so that such an organization is formed to service the people. James Madison claimed that because man is different from angel; endless ambition, man is deem to be curiously argumentative. We can draw an equation from this that, government is supposed to have the same mentality; one government could invade another government for beneficial or malicious purpose.

As April Seventeen arrived, government soldiers were told that the war had finished and all Khmer was to become brothers who should integrate to get Kampuchea Krom back from Vietnam. And one Special Centre Assembly for Cabinet Ministers and all zone/region secretary was held. In that special meeting, among the eight points stated by Pol Pot, seventh point; expel the entire Vietnamese minority population, and eighth point; sending soldiers to the border especially to the Khmer-Vietnamese border (Ben Kiernan, 1985, p.361-362). Ta Mok added that all place that has palm trees, is belonged to Khmer. Democratic Kampuchea constitution, Chapter I, Article 1 which stated that “The State of Kampuchea is an independent, unified, peaceful, neutral, non-aligned, sovereign, and democratic State enjoying territorial integrity (Jennar, 1995, p.83)” also devote to defense Khmer territory and Khmer people against foreign invasion in any form. However, do these all mean Democratic Kampuchea did response to the third obligation, thus worth called “a responsible government”?

If not under any form of foreign pressure, many has come up with a rhetoric why people were forced to bury their heads into giant collective farms, in order to attain the yielding policy of the revolutionary organization? And how was the annual farming yield vanished?

Democratic Kampuchea was deemed to have a lot of similarities to the Cultural Revolution of Mao Zedong in between 1966-1976. Those similarities were seen in that Mao Zedong forced all the Chinese schools to be closed, and after months, he encouraged the Red Guards to abolish all the traditional values and bourgeois things, in order to test the party’s followers by criticizing them. The commanders ordered their subordinates and soldiers to take control schools, factories and government agencies. Step by step, this revolution moved to become stricter and stricter. Many elderly people were not only mentally attacked but also physically (cultural revolution, internet, p.1-2). Other resemblances were seen in turning all the private property into state ownership and the great leap forward approach. Ben Kiernan wrote about Chinese financial aids to Democratic Kampuchea that; in September 13, 1975 diplomatic source in Beijing claimed that China increased un-aligned financial/military aids to Cambodia up to one billion USD and twenty millions USD as rewards. This was thought as the most impressive aids of China ever been given to any country (Chandler, 1991, p.260). David P. Chandler added that; most farmers, happy or unhappy, were owed to their creditor, China (Chandler, 1991, p.239). Many new people saw the point that they had to work to feed themselves and to increase the agrarian productivities. Such a stance was diminished after the 1975’s output was seen to deliver to far-away unloaded destination by government trucks. In fact, the government delivered thousand of tones of rice to China to pay the debts. The 1976’s finished rice was to be deliver as well, but due to excessive demands from the government, starvation became widespread (Chandler, 1991, p. 239).

All the above evident has unveiled the Democratic Kampuchea that hadn’t protect people from foreign invasion at all. In contrast, people were enslaved to pay the debts of the government back to China.

IV. Promoting The General Welfare?

Maslow asserted that People desire for hierarchy of motives; starting from physiological needs to safety needs to love needs, esteem needs, and finally self-actualization needs (Myers,1990, 314). Besides the three chronological obligations of the government written above, government is assigned to be the welfare-supplier to all the Cambodian citizens. Business regulation, helping the disabled and orphans in the form of payments or shelters. For this purpose, varieties of institution, governmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations have been established to accelerate the process. Constitution also claims the role of the government on this goal.

Government should be like a tree that unconditionally and tirelessly provides shade to all who are in need. Or like the parents who cater cares for the children. Government would always heroically venture to sacrifice everything for the goods of its citizens, as Buth Savong, Cambodia’s Buddhist philosophy scholar, wrote in his book called “The Lesson for Life”;

In the dry season, absence of wind, in the middle of field, the heat is enormously high, but the tree can still bare such an ordeal respectfully.

Look! Admire the tree that provides cool shade to men and animals, always be tolerant to the sun’s ray, in accordance to her nature.

Likewise, the guardian/breadwinner is the comfortable shade of the other, he or herself has to possess the quality of endurance, struggle for the hardship.

Admire the parents! Both of them are the guardians/breadwinners of the child/children, how have they endured the suffering (Buth Savong, 2003, p.58)…

Or like in the book entitled, “The Tao Inner Peace”, Diane Dreher suggested the style of leadership through Taoist philosophy. In that book, she stated that leader would resemble the water, which is always cool and timelessly beneficial.

“The best people (government) are like water.

They benefits all things,

And do not compete with them.

They settle in low places,…” (Dreher, 1990,180).

Democratic Kampuchea’s general welfare was far below zero, people were forced to live their lives back into the primitive tradition during antiquity.

Conclusion

Government is a mean to an end! There is no need at all, if men are innately insightful, philosophical, psychologically enlightened. But since men are evil creatures, government is required to cease the upheavals of the people. The four basic duties stated above, is initial answer to the question “why government?”. Still government has many more compulsions to be executed to be worth called people’s government. Democratic Kampuchea didn’t fill any among the four obligations as they did contract with the people, while campaigning for popular support. Such a gang government is not supposed to last long, because they deploy forces to make people respect them.

Professor Atiyah, in one of his edition called “Promises, Morals, and Law” wrote that; A human being has only very limited capacity to improve his lot in the world when he acts entirely on his own. It is only by exchanging his surplus goods, and the products of his labour, with others, and by thus joining with them in cooperative activities that man has been able to create the wealth which satisfies the wants of human race. No single person acting on his own could begin to make one-thousandth of the goods which he uses in his daily life-the food he eats, the house he lives in, the car or train in which he travels to work, are all the result of co-operation by an unimaginable number of people. So it is easy to agree that anything which encourages or facilitates human co-operation is, other things being equal, of great utility (Atiyah, 1995, p.30-31). Democratic Kampuchea government is thought to be full of milk of self-interest; turning the whole society to fit their needs. Perhaps now we can venture to answer the question why did Democratic Kampuchea last too short? by using Professor Atiyah’s statements and because they turn the whole society into self-interest.

Will a Clean Colon Prolong Your Life?

Filed under: Living With Medicine — admin @ 2:33 am

At the turn of the 20th century, Ilya Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize for his discovery of how your body uses its white blood cells to fend off infections. He was one of the most respected scientists of his time. As he grew older, he set out to find out how he could prolong his life. He noticed that people who lived in the mountains of Hungary appear to live to a very old age. He knew that they ate yogurt every day and that yogurt is loaded with lactobacilli, bacteria that can grow in your intestinal tract. He felt that these good bacteria displaced bad bacteria that normally live in your intestines and secrete toxins that shorten your life.

Don’t laugh: the autointoxication theory was a respected scientific theory in the early 20th century. Many people took enemas regularly because they thought that it would clean out their colons and help to prolong their lives. The theory of autointoxication was that food that is not absorbed in the upper intestinal tract passes to your colon, where bacteria ferment it to form poisons that are absorbed into your bloodstream to shorten your life and even cause cancer. To prevent this, its practitioners taught that you should get enemas to rid yourself of the unabsorbed food.

No scientific evidence supports this foolishness. While many of you will find this story funny, realize that enemas were part of John Harvey Kellogg’s treatments at the Sanitorium in Battle Creek, Michigan where he treated the Roosevelts, Fords, Chryslers, Rockefellers and other prominent people of the early 20th century. Some entrepreneurs who try to sell you colon cleansing products still promote these outdated ideas today.

If you suffer from constipation, check with your doctor to see if you have thyroid disease or an obstruction. If you have no disease, the odds are overwhelming that you can be cured by avoiding white flour and bakery products, eating whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruit so you get lots of fiber; drinking enough fluids and getting plenty of exercise.
