Paths of Yoga II

Filed under: Sports Parlor — admin @ 5:05 am

Continuing the Paths of Yoga, I’m delivering to you the practical side of this mysticism that thousands of people around the world use to achieve spiritual growth, and body purification. According to yoga experts, its early practice reduces the risk of developing most of the common illnesses. And according to Yogis, masters of Yoga, its exercises can deepen your meditation.

Practicing physical yoga is not difficult, and it can be done by anybody including babies, children, teens, and adults; one just needs to perform different asanas which are defined as bodily poses. In a great scale, there are dozens of easy positions that students must learn, and there are others quite singular that need a little touch of flexibility. Also, there are a kind of prescribed asanas for each specific body constitution, so that students reduce all risk of injures.

The most popular styles of yoga are Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Kundalini Yoga, but there’re other styles of Yoga taught and practiced today.

Below is a short guide of the most common disciplines derived from Hindu Yogis. Remember, first thing to do is to ask for your physician’s advice before getting involved into any exercise activity.

Hatha Yoga:

Hatha yoga is basically the type of yoga that requires asceticism, physical and breathing techniques to reach a certain pure and spiritual level. If it’s your first time hearing the word “asceticism”, don’t worry because it is a state of abstinent, a condition we all can achieve in life. Now, the goal of Hatha Yoga is to condition the body in a way that any perfomer can reach in meditation.
Vinyasa Yoga:
Vinyasa is exactly a breath-synchronized movement in yoga which means that all poses or asanas will flow from one to another and being coordinated with breathing for a transformative and balancing effect.
According to its series of postures called Sun Salutation, this style of yoga tends to be more dynamic making it popular also by its balance on awareness and alignment, as for strength and flexibility.

Ashtanga Yoga:
Ashtanga, which means “8 limbs” in Sanskrit, is a rhythmically fast, intense set of yoga practice always performed in the same order.
Ashtanga Yoga is physically demanding and it is meant for people seeking body strength, flexibility and workout including challenging series of postures with Ujjayi Breathing and vinyasas. In yoga terminology, this is called “flow”.
This process leads to an intense internal heat and a prolific sweat that purifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Iyengar Yoga:
Iyengar Yoga focuses on alignment. In yoga, alignment describes the correct way in which the body should be stationed in order to obtain the maximum benefits of the pose. Iyengar Yoga works like this: Performers hold a posture for a longer time than the other Yogas, and repeat it several times. Its practice builds strong legs, and improves circulation, coordination and balance.
It is this discipline that pioneered the use of “Props” such as yoga blankets, cushions, belts, and benches used to bring the body into alignment and to provide support and diminish the risk of injures.

Kundalini Yoga:
This type of yoga uses a system of meditative techniques and movements related to the concept of intensified life-energy-pranotthana-. Typically, Kundalini Yoga teachers use fast-paced and repetitive movements often coordinated with in-calls and response chanting.

The emphasis in Kundalini is on the breath in conjunction with physical movements which also gives special consideration to the role of the spine and the endocrine system due to the freeing of energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards.

Bikram Yoga:

Known as “Hot Yoga”, this discipline is designed for a sequence of 26 asana yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises that are performed in a heated room between 95 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit (35 - 40 degrees Celsius).

As I have seen, this type of yoga demands the repetition and holding of each posture for a certain time accompanied by the “breath of fire” to warm and stretch muscles whilst oxygenating each organ an fiber for a healthy temple (body).

A Matter Of Winning And Losing: Tips On Playing Blackjack

Filed under: Life of Style — admin @ 3:20 am

Today, blackjack seems to be one of the most popular card games.
This is because playing blackjack is so easy to learn and play.
Unlike poker, blackjack does not have any combinations to
remember.

In blackjack, the object of the game is to get the sum of the
two cards close to 21. When a person gets cards that are over
21, he or she loses the game.

Normally, a player receives two cards. After the players see
their cards, they have to decide whether they would hit or
stand. When a person says “stand,” this means the player thinks
he or she is closer to 21 already. When a player says “hit,”
this means that he or she still needs additional cards just to
get close to 21.

Players can draw as many cards as they want until they feel they
are close to 21 already. A player who is nearer to 21 wins.

However, there are people who have devised some tips and
strategies to get an edge over the other players. There are
times that these tips really can help some people win.

Here’s a list of some tips that players may choose to use them
so as to win the game.

1. If a player gets 17 or higher, it is always better to stand,
and if the player has any number from 13 to 16 and the dealer’s
card is 6 or lower, it would be better to stand. But if the
dealer has 7 or more, it would be better for a player to hit.

The theory here is that, if the dealer is showing a card of six
or lower, the dealer may take a card, assuming that the dealer’s
card facing down is a ten. The players, then, assume that the
dealer is banking on a bust hand, so the other players have the
tendency to maintain a lower card number.

The rule of thumb: players should always assume that the
dealer’s down cards is 10.

2. If a player has aces or 8’s, it would be better to split them
regardless of the dealer’s showing card.

3. A player should remember not to split 10’s. Chances are, they
might end up getting busted.

4. If the dealer is showing 4, 5, or 6, it would be better for a
player to stand on hard 12, or hit hard if the dealer is showing
2, 3, 7, or higher.

5. In order to win, players should always remember not to split
fours, face cards, and fives.

Indeed, gambling is a game of chance, but with keen observation,
winning is possible.

How to Baby Proof Your House

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:50 am

Once your child becomes mobile, you start a whole new phase in the life of your home. Gone are the days of glass vases on the floor and piles of items such as craft supplies or tools lying around waiting to be put away. The fastest way to organization in the home is to bring a crawling baby or toddler into the picture.

When your baby first comes home, you are typically worried about such things as what kind of diapers you are going to use, which bouncy seat will make them happiest and what kind of eating/sleeping pattern will work best for them. You don’t really start to worry about baby proofing your home until you watch your child move from point A to point B unassisted.

The day that they crawl across the room or take their first step is the day you need to baby proof your home in every way, shape and form. It only takes walking into a room to find your child heading toward an open wall socket or picking up your favorite antique plate to send you into a panic to make instant changes in your home.

When you baby proof your home, you have to think about baby safety first and home safety second. By this I mean think about what can be harmful to your baby first and what your baby can harm second.

The obvious baby safety features you need to start with are wall socket covers, cupboard latches and baby gates. EVERY socket in your home needs to be covered with a safety plug. Even if they are in the most remote part of the home, cover them. Every cupboard that contains anything harmful to your child or contains things that you don’t want thrown all over the floor needs to have a safety latch. Keep one cupboard open and fill it with toys so that it can be your child’s cupboard and they can open it whenever they want to. Place baby gates at the bottom and top of steps. Close doors to bathrooms so that they can’t get into the tub or toilets.

Crawl around on the floor at your child’s level and pick up anything that you don’t want your child to have. This includes any breakables as you can’t expect a curious child to not touch things and explore their surroundings. Anything smaller than a dollar should be out of their reach to avoid having them put it in their mouth and choking. Photo albums and photos should be out of reach as well or they can become stained, ripped or chewed on. If it doesn’t have to be out then it is probably best to pack it away for now or at least put it up high out of their reach.

In addition to these suggestions, you can find other baby proofing suggestions and checklists online. Even after going through these checklists you have to realize that each home and each child is unique and you will probably make more changes as your child grows and discovers other things in the home. Keeping them safe is of utmost important. You can redecorate your home when they are older, but for now your job is to make their home a safe place to live.

Awaken the Leader in You: 10 Easy Steps To Develop Your Leadership Skills

Filed under: World Of Management — admin @ 4:59 pm

“The miracle power that elevates the few is to be found in their industry, application, and perseverance, under the promptings of a brave determined spirit.” - Mark Twain

Many motivational experts like to say that leaders are made, not born. I would argue the exact opposite. I believe we are all natural born leaders, but have been deprogrammed along the way. As children, we were natural leaders - curious and humble, always hungry and thirsty for knowledge, with an incredibly vivid imagination; we knew exactly what we wanted, were persistent and determined in getting what we wanted, and had the ability to motivate, inspire, and influence everyone around us to help us in accomplishing our mission. So why is this so difficult to do as adults? What happened?

As children, over time, we got used to hearing, No, Don’t, and Can’t. No! Don’t do this. Don’t do that. You can’t do this. You can’t do that. No! Many of our parents told us to keep quiet and not disturb the adults by asking silly questions. This pattern continued into high school with our teachers telling us what we could do and couldn’t do and what was possible. Then many of us got hit with the big one institutionalized formal education known as college or university. Unfortunately, the traditional educational system doesn’t teach students how to become leaders; it teaches students how to become polite order takers for the corporate world. Instead of learning to become creative, independent, self-reliant, and think for themselves, most people learn how to obey and intelligently follow rules to keep the corporate machine humming.

Developing the Leader in you to live your highest life, then, requires a process of unlearning by self-remembering and self-honoring. Being an effective leader again will require you to be brave and unlock the door to your inner attic, where your childhood dreams lie, going inside to the heart. Based on my over ten years research in the area of human development and leadership, here are ten easy steps you can take to awaken the Leader in you and rekindle your passion for greatness.

1. Humility. Leadership starts with humility. To be a highly successful leader, you must first humble yourself like a little child and be willing to serve others. Nobody wants to follow someone who is arrogant. Be humble as a child, always curious, always hungry and thirsty for knowledge. For what is excellence but knowledge plus knowledge plus knowledge - always wanting to better yourself, always improving, always growing.
When you are humble, you become genuinely interested in people because you want to learn from them. And because you want to learn and grow, you will be a far more effective listener, which is the #1 leadership communication tool. When people sense you are genuinely interested in them, and listening to them, they will naturally be interested in you and listen to what you have to say.

2. SWOT Yourself. SWOT is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. Although it’s a strategic management tool taught at Stanford and Harvard Business Schools and used by large multinationals, it can just as effectively be used in your own professional development as a leader. This is a useful key to gain access to self-knowledge, self-remembering, and self-honoring. Start by listing all your Strengths including your accomplishments. Then write down all your Weaknesses and what needs to be improved. Make sure to include any doubts, anxieties, fears, and worries that you may have. These are the demons and dragons guarding the door to your inner attic. By bringing them to conscious awareness you can begin to slay them. Then proceed by listing all the Opportunities you see available to you for using your strengths. Finally, write down all the Threats or obstacles that are currently blocking you or that you think you will encounter along the way to achieving your dreams.

3. Follow Your Bliss. Regardless of how busy you are, always take time to do what you love doing. Being an alive and vital person vitalizes others. When you are pursuing your passions, people around you cannot help but feel impassioned by your presence. This will make you a charismatic leader. Whatever it is that you enjoy doing, be it writing, acting, painting, drawing, photography, sports, reading, dancing, networking, or working on entrepreneurial ventures, set aside time every week, ideally two or three hours a day, to pursue these activities. Believe me, you’ll find the time. If you were to video tape yourself for a day, you would be shocked to see how much time goes to waste!

4. Dream Big. If you want to be larger than life, you need a dream that’s larger than life. Small dreams won’t serve you or anyone else. It takes the same amount of time to dream small than it does to dream big. So be Big and be Bold! Write down your One Biggest Dream. The one that excites you the most. Remember, don’t be small and realistic; be bold and unrealistic! Go for the Gold, the Pulitzer, the Nobel, the Oscar, the highest you can possibly achieve in your field. After you ve written down your dream, list every single reason why you CAN achieve your dream instead of worrying about why you can’t.

5. Vision. Without a vision, we perish. If you can’t see yourself winning that award and feel the tears of triumph streaming down your face, it’s unlikely you will be able to lead yourself or others to victory. Visualize what it would be like accomplishing your dream. See it, smell it, taste it, hear it, feel it in your gut.

6. Perseverance. Victory belongs to those who want it the most and stay in it the longest. Now that you have a dream, make sure you take consistent action every day. I recommend doing at least 5 things every day that will move you closer to your dream.

7. Honor Your Word. Every time you break your word, you lose power. Successful leaders keep their word and their promises. You can accumulate all the toys and riches in the world, but you only have one reputation in life. Your word is gold. Honor it.

8. Get a Mentor. Find yourself a mentor. Preferably someone who has already achieved a high degree of success in your field. Don’t be afraid to ask. You’ve got nothing to lose. Mentors.ca is an excellent mentoring website and a great resource for finding local mentoring programs. They even have a free personal profile you can fill out in order to potentially find you a suitable mentor. In addition to mentors, take time to study autobiographies of great leaders that you admire. Learn everything you can from their lives and model some of their successful behaviors.

9. Be Yourself. Use your relationships with mentors and your research on great leaders as models or reference points to work from, but never copy or imitate them like a parrot. Everyone has vastly different leadership styles. History books are filled with leaders who are soft-spoken, introverted, and quiet, all the way to the other extreme of being out- spoken, extroverted, and loud, and everything in between. A quiet and simple Gandhi or a soft-spoken peanut farmer named Jimmy Carter, who became president of the United States and won a Nobel Peace Prize, have been just as effective world leaders as a loud and flamboyant Churchill, or the tough leadership style employed by The Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher.
I admire Hemingway as a writer. But if I copy Hemingway, I’d be a second or third rate Hemingway, at best, instead of a first rate Sharif. Be yourself, your best self, always competing against yourself and bettering yourself, and you will become a first rate YOU instead of a second rate somebody else.

10. Give. Finally, be a giver. Leaders are givers. By giving, you activate a universal law as sound as gravity life gives to the giver, and takes from the taker. The more you give, the more you get. If you want more love, respect, support, and compassion, give love, give respect, give support, and give compassion. Be a mentor to others. Give back to your community. As a leader, the only way to get what you want, is by helping enough people get what they want first. As Sir Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”

Four Poems: Harvest of Apoplectic Horses [Katrina’s Pathway]

Four Poems: Katrina’s Pathway

Harvest of Apoplectic Horses
((Dedicated to: Katrina)) crisis)

It has happened before:
Nearby and afar,
Where the four-horses of
Apocalypse
With their flaming nostrils
Breathed in the fury of the winds
Only to vomit out, disaster;
Then galloped away,
Against pale faces!…

The Vanishing
[Dedicated to: Katrina]

For a time, I left my body
Behind me.
Still,
I resided in my darkroom
“There is good in the world,” I said,
The spirit of the world begins
To moveslowly, after Katrina.
I closed my eyes, thinking
New Orleans, Mississippi
(a prayer, if only for one).
Women’s hands, loaves of bread…
Appear…eyes of men tired with dread
Burgundy faces, huddled
Together…appear.
I say: thank God it’s not winter.
The world is silent (mostly)
A few friends hear our cry
But they are just shadows
Turned away from the sun.
The only thing worse than death,
Is thisthe vanishing.

Bones in Water
(The Gem of the South; Katrina)

There once was this gem
Down along the Mississippi
(The Big Easy, New Orleans)
A gem, all wanted to touch:
Now in silent waters, like Atlantis;
The city in the dark:
Once the blossom of the South,
It cannot stand up right now.
Broken to its knees, with ease
In the winds of the hurricane:
Katrina’s pathway: bones and ravage.

Doomed to Live
[Katrina]

Doomed to live
Are those who survived?
Katrina’s massive outcry
The defiance of Mother Nature
Against mankind.
Thus, her ultimatum, her
Remorseless, implacable
Unalterable despair
Gave her skeleton to create
A great catastrophe
For humankind…
Her face was gaunt, with
Patched gray, colored dead
With tarnished braids around
Her eyelidsunaimed, calm
Her voice, not even rose
She destroyed New Orleans
Her golden rival!…

Finding The Best Appliance Parts And Services

Filed under: Technology — admin @ 1:33 pm

We all know that our appliances, no matter how much good care we take of them, may occasionally break down. There are several reasons why these appliances get broken; over use, improper usage, and accidental incidents.

Although our appliances are covered by warranties, they usually are only for a year at most. Have you ever noticed that most appliances seem to get broken after the termination of the warranty? I am not really sure if this is only coincidence or maybe appliances are created to last only for the warranted time. Because if such is the case then I guess it would be best to purchase appliances that have the longest warranty.

One problem faced with broken appliances is in terms of finding replacement parts. There are several appliances that have parts that are really hard to find, usually because the manufacturer has stopped producing those appliance parts.

That is when the search begins for quality spare parts and services for our broken appliances. There are so many companies offering spare parts and both online and offline. Some web sites even give instruction on how to repair appliances by ourselves; they are helpful in such a way that we can save money, instead of hiring service personnel. Some people are not convinced nor satisfied with this approach, they want quality parts and services.

There are so many establishments offering quality services. Nowadays many spare parts are available as brand new or used spare parts, but beware of counterfeit spare parts as they are readily available and the sellers tend to target those people who are looking at purchasing cheap parts.

Counterfeit parts are indeed cheap, but they tend not to last as long unlike genuine parts, and they could also make situations even worse. Used spare parts are better than counterfeits, but it also depends on how long the past was used before it was sold to you. But if you really want the best quality appliance parts and services choose wisely and do not get overwhelmed by promos.

Some companies also produce parts for a certain brands; they are not genuine and only a few are considered to be quality. These parts are available in your local hardware store or even on the Internet. On the Internet you can find a wide variety of appliance parts to choose from simply by just browsing on different web-sites that offers spare parts for your appliance.

Using the Internet means you can effortlessly purchase the appliance parts you need. Although payment for shipping your purchased appliance part is required, it’s just a click of a mouse. Unlike at your local hardware store, where they may not have your part in stock, so you still have to go to another store, and another, and so on. You will waste so much time and effort just to be able to get the appliance parts you need.

FOREVER POMESTEEN POWER

Filed under: Online Templates Resources — admin @ 2:54 pm

Our daily work schedules, exercise routines and errand running
take a toll on our bodies. Deadlines mesh with meetings, and
time soon becomes something that controls us, rather than the
other way around. With such time constraints, we fail to get the
proper amounts of fruits and vegetables in our diet, and free
radicals take their toll.

Free radicals are present in almost all living things. Free
radicals are unstable molecules that steal electrons from other
stable electrons, resulting in changes within our cells that are
suspected of causing many of the problems associated with aging.
Antioxidants are stable compounds, found abundantly in fruits
and vegetables, which neutralize free radicals by giving them
electrons and turning them back into stable, normal molecules.
This benefits the body by supporting the immune system and
helping to prevent damage to cell tissues.

Forever Pomesteen Power is the antioxidant solution to poor
eating habits and improper nutrition. This powerful antioxidant
supplement fights free radicals with two of the most potent
fruits found in nature: Pomegranates and Mangosteens. These two
fruits are nutritional powerhouses, packed with high
concentrations of Xanthones and other antioxidants. Xanthones
are powerful phytonutrients that disarm free radicals to help
keep your immune system strong and healthy. Also packed into
this incredible fruit juice blend are Pear, Raspberry,
Blueberry, and Blackberry. Grape Seed Extract rounds out this
proprietary mix for a complete antioxidant formula.

As further testament to the health benefits of this great
nutritional supplement, Forever Pomesteen Power also packs a
powerful ORAC punch. The ORAC value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance
Capacity) is an indicator of how well an antioxidant inhibits
free radical damage. The ORAC value of fruits can vary greatly,
even when testing the same fruit at different times after
harvesting. What is important to know is that all of the
ingredients of Forever Pomesteen Power are near the top of the
list in ORAC value, especially Pomegranate and Mangosteen fruit.
